Lindsay @ Fernweh Wellness
We're so happy to introduce the newest member of the Fernweh Wellness team, our new therapist, Lindsay Middaugh!
Lindsay is here to help you navigate life's challenges, from the "tough stuff" like anxiety, ADHD, relationship struggles, or a new Autism diagnosis, to simply finding more balance and joy. She offers a compassionate and supportive space to work through it all.
To help you get to know her better, we asked Lindsay to share some insight into her approach to therapy and how she works with clients.

Tell us a bit about you—what inspired you to pursue a career in mental health?
I began a career in mental health about 17 years ago. I liked the idea of working with children and began supporting children as young as 5, who were diagnosed with Autism. I had a lot of compassion for these children and families who required an extensive amount of support from various types of therapists. This was when I realized I, too, wanted to be a therapist in the field of mental health.
What excites you most about joining the Fernweh team as an Associate Care Team therapist?
I love the culture and team dynamics as emphasized by the owner, Ashley. I feel very aligned with how Fernweh approaches not only therapy for the clients, but also how the company supports my own growth as a therapist.
What can clients expect when they sit down with you for a session?
I want them to feel less alone, and to know that their feelings and experiences are valid. I want to create a space for safety, kindness, care, and autonomy.
What would you say to someone who’s never done therapy before and is feeling a bit nervous?
If you have made that initial phone call, or shown up for your first therapy session, you have already overcome the most nerve-wracking part of therapy. Therapy is also not a race or a competition, this is about tuning into your needs and navigating therapy at your personalized pace.
Outside the therapy room, what’s something that fuels or inspires you?
I love spending time in the outdoors and soaking in some sunshine. I especially love being out in the mountains and I always feel so at peace when I get to escape the hustle and bustle city life.
If your ideal therapy office had a soundtrack, what genre would be playing in the background?
Country music would be playing non-stop. I think what I love about country music the most is how a lot of artists are amazing story tellers through their lyrics.
What’s your go-to donut order, and how does it match your therapy style?
I love birthday cake! I think it is vibrant, hopeful, and full of colours like me. To me, birthdays are about celebrating each single individual every year. I think this is a critical component to understand my clients because each person deserves to feel cared for and celebrated for their own story and who they are as a person.
If you could recommend one unexpected thing for better mental health, what would it be?
Slowing down and doing less. We live in a fast-paced, technologically dependent world that provides a lot of positive praise when we do more and succeed more. Anxiety and stress are at an all-time high, which then can manifest as physical ailments. My recommendation would be to do the opposite despite the popularized opinions. Let’s slow down, tune into our surroundings, soak in every single little moment, and learn to enjoy the simplest pleasures of life.
