Ashley’s Story

From the Podium to the Practice

As a former Team Canada athlete and a world-renowned Kukkiwon Certified Fourth-Degree Black Belt, Ashley’s competitive resume is elite:

  • Multi-time Canadian National and Provincial Champion.

  • Medalist at the World Championships, Pan Am Games, and Commonwealth Games.

  • Awarded Elite Athlete of the Year in Saskatchewan.

With nearly two decades of teaching experience, ranging from weapons coordinator to referee and coach, Ashley possesses an unparalleled technical mastery of the sport.

Ashley Foster, didn't just join the world of martial arts, she was raised in it. Beginning her Taekwondo journey at just three years old, Ashley became the youngest female in North America to earn her Black Belt, setting a precedent for a life defined by excellence.

The Why:

Healing the High Performer

Ashley knows the exhilarating highs of the podium, but she also intimately understands the toll of the "downs." She has navigated the pressure of the inner critic, the weight of high-performance expectations, and the physical manifestations of trauma on the body.

She realized that the same discipline used to win gold could be harnessed to heal the heart. This realization led to the creation of Martial Arts Assisted Therapy™ (MAAT), a proprietary modality designed to help others move through mental health challenges using the somatic power of martial arts.

"I’ve spent my life learning how to fight. Now, I’m teaching people how to heal—using the very same tools of breath, movement, and resilience."
